The Dear Hunter

The Dear Hunter is an American progressive rock band that grew out of a side project by Casey Crescenzo, formerly of The Receiving End of Sirens, and has since become known for its ambitious, genre-spanning conceptual work. Formed in the mid-2000s, the band is built around Crescenzo's songwriting and production, blending elements of progressive rock, indie rock, post-hardcore and orchestral arrangement.

The group is best known for The Act series, a multi-album narrative concept saga that traces a fictional protagonist through different stages of life, showcasing the band's willingness to move fluidly between heavy rock passages, delicate acoustic sections and cinematic orchestration within a single record. This ambition for large-scale storytelling and stylistic range has made them a distinctive presence within progressive and art rock.

Beyond the Act series, the band has released standalone albums that continue to experiment with genre, incorporating electronic textures and diverse instrumentation. The lineup has included musicians such as Nick Crescenzo, Casey's brother, alongside other longtime collaborators, with Casey Crescenzo remaining the band's central creative force throughout its history.
