The Dandy Warhols

The Dandy Warhols are an American rock band formed in Portland, Oregon in the mid-1990s around singer-guitarist Courtney Taylor-Taylor and guitarist Peter Holmström, later joined by keyboardist Zia McCabe and drummer Brent DeBoer. They emerged from the Pacific Northwest alternative scene with a sound that fused shoegaze fuzz, garage rock swagger, and druggy, deadpan pop hooks, positioning them as a slyer, more ironic counterpart to the era's grunge-dominated rock landscape.

Signed to a major label in the late 1990s, the band built a cult following before breaking through internationally with «Bohemian Like You», a track from their record «Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia» that became a hit years after its release once it was used in a widely seen advertisement, especially across Europe. Their catalog mixes hazy, reverb-heavy guitar pop with occasional detours into electronic textures and glam-inflected rock.

The band's dynamic with Seattle rivals-turned-friends the Brian Jonestown Massacre, chronicled in the documentary «Dig!», became one of the more famous rock rivalries of the 2000s indie scene and helped cement their reputation as wry, self-aware chroniclers of rock-star excess. Across multiple studio albums, The Dandy Warhols have remained a fixture of alternative rock with a devoted, especially European, fanbase.
