The Chats

The Chats are an Australian punk rock trio from Sunshine Coast, Queensland, formed in 2015, consisting of Eamon Sandwith on bass and vocals, Josh Price on guitar, and original drummer Matt Boggis. Their breakout single «Smoko», about an Australian workplace cigarette break, became a viral hit and introduced international audiences to their raw, self-described «shed rock» sound.

Drawing on classic punk, pub rock, and garage revival influences, the band built a reputation for fast, short, humorous songs about beer, cops, cars, and working-class Australian life, delivered with Sandwith's thick accent and snotty energy. Their debut album High Risk Behaviour and later releases like Get Fucked and Extremely (Le Chat Pile-style) further cemented their DIY, unpretentious approach.

The Chats have become one of the most recognizable modern Australian punk exports, known for chaotic, high-energy live shows and a sound that channels the irreverence of bands like The Saints and Cosmic Psychos filtered through a distinctly online, meme-friendly sensibility.
