About the artist

The Calling is an American alternative rock band formed in 1996 in Los Angeles by singer and guitarist Alex Band and guitarist Aaron Kamin. Rooted in post-grunge and radio-friendly rock, the band built its sound around Band's distinctive raspy voice, melodic hooks and mid-tempo, emotionally direct songwriting.

Their 2001 debut album Camino Palmero produced the massive hit «Wherever You Will Go», one of the defining adult-alternative singles of the early 2000s, spending an unusually long run atop the charts and later being named a top song of its decade. The follow-up, Two, released in 2004, included «Our Lives», which was featured during the closing ceremony of the 2004 Athens Summer Olympics, further cementing the band's mainstream visibility.

The Calling disbanded in 2005 as Band pursued a solo career, but reformed in 2013 with a new lineup around Band, continuing to perform their catalog of early-2000s rock staples. Decades later, «Wherever You Will Go» remains a defining song of the era's adult contemporary and alternative rock crossover.
