About the artist

The Brave Little Abacus were an American emo band from Sandown, New Hampshire, active from 2007 to 2012. The core lineup featured Adam Demirjian on vocals, guitar and drums, alongside Andrew Ryan on bass, Zach Onett on keyboard and Nick Morrone on drums, blending frantic, lo-fi instrumentation with keyboard textures unusual for the genre at the time.

Over their short run the band released two EPs, a split release, and two full-length albums before disbanding in 2012. Songs such as «Pile! No Pile! Pile!», «Can't Run Away» and the sprawling, emotionally raw «Bug-Infested Floorboards—Can We Please Just Leave This Place, Now.» exemplify their chaotic, diary-like songwriting and shifting time signatures, hallmarks of the twinkly, confessional strand of emo that would later be labeled the «emo revival».

Despite disbanding relatively young and unknown outside underground circles, the group built a devoted cult following posthumously, becoming a touchstone act for that revival scene. Demirjian and Morrone went on to form the Boston-based power pop group Me in Capris, carrying forward some of the melodic instincts first heard in The Brave Little Abacus.
