About the artist
The Arcs are an American band formed around Dan Auerbach, the guitarist and vocalist best known as one half of The Black Keys, alongside Leon Michels, Richard Swift, Homer Steinweiss and Nick Movshon. Conceived as a side project outside the confines of The Black Keys, the group leans into a looser, more soul- and R&B-inflected take on rock, drawing on vintage production techniques and analog warmth.
The band's sound blends fuzzed-out garage rock with retro soul grooves, psychedelic textures and horn-driven arrangements, reflecting the varied backgrounds of its members, several of whom have deep roots in soul and funk revival scenes through projects like El Michels Affair and work as session musicians and producers for artists across R&B and hip hop. Songs like «Outta My Mind» and «Stay in My Corner» showcase this mix of gritty guitar tones with warm, groove-driven rhythm sections.
The Arcs' debut album, «Yours, Dreamily,», released in 2015, was recorded largely in Nashville and reflects a collaborative, exploratory studio approach rather than a tightly structured songwriting process. The project allowed Auerbach to stretch beyond the blues-rock template of his main band, resulting in music that feels more eclectic, atmospheric and steeped in classic soul and psychedelic influences.
