Teen Suicide

Teen Suicide is an American indie rock project centered on songwriter Sam Ray, who formed the band in the Baltimore, Maryland area before it later became associated with Orlando, Florida. Emerging in the late 2000s DIY and lo-fi scenes, the project built a devoted following through a steady stream of EPs, LPs, and demo releases, many bearing deliberately long, stream-of-consciousness titles.

The band's sound moves between hazy, distorted lo-fi rock and quieter, more fragile acoustic and electronic passages, often recorded with an unpolished, intimate rawness that mirrors its lyrical concerns. Themes of depression, drug use, racing thoughts, and emotional exhaustion recur throughout the catalog, delivered with a confessional honesty that resonated strongly within the emo revival and bedroom-pop-adjacent DIY communities of the 2010s.

Sam Ray has been the project's constant creative force, at times working alongside collaborators including Kitty Pryde, and has also released music under other names such as Ricky Eat Acid.
