Tally Hall

Tally Hall are an American band formed in 2002 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where founding members Rob Cantor, Zubin Sedghi, and Andrew Horowitz met while attending the University of Michigan. The classic lineup was rounded out by guitarist Joe Hawley and drummer Ross Federman, each member identified by a signature necktie color. Their sound blends power-pop, rock, and a playful, theatrical songwriting sensibility, mixing multiple lead vocalists and unusual arrangements within often quirky, narrative-driven lyrics.

The band built a cult following with their debut Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, home to fan favorites like «Ruler of Everything» and «Hidden in the Sand», and continued with the more ambitious, darker Good & Evil, featuring tracks such as «&» and «The Bidding». Their willingness to shift genres within a single record, along with an active presence on YouTube through music videos and behind-the-scenes «Boralogues», helped them cultivate a devoted internet-era fanbase.

Tally Hall has been on an extended hiatus since the early 2010s, without a follow-up to Good & Evil, though individual members, notably Rob Cantor, have pursued solo and other creative projects. The band's catalogue remains beloved for its eclecticism and its distinctive blend of humor and craftsmanship.
