About the artist
Taking Back Sunday are an American rock band from Long Island, New York, formed in 1999 and widely regarded as one of the definitive acts of the mid-2000s emo and post-hardcore boom. Founded by guitarist Eddie Reyes alongside Jesse Lacey and John Nolan, the band went through significant early lineup shifts — Lacey left to form Brand New, and Adam Lazzara eventually stepped up from bass to become the group's dynamic frontman. Their sound blends anthemic pop-punk hooks with raw, confessional lyrics and dual-vocal interplay, a combination that helped define the East Coast emo scene of the early 2000s.
The band's 2002 debut album Tell All Your Friends became a touchstone of the genre, driven by tracks like «Cute Without the ‘E’ (Cut from the Team)» and «You’re So Last Summer», known for their raw energy and microphone-swinging live performances. Follow-up releases pushed toward a more polished, radio-friendly rock sound with hits such as «MakeDamnSure» and «A Decade Under the Influence».
Taking Back Sunday has undergone several lineup changes over the years, including the eventual return of the original Tell All Your Friends line-up, and continues to be cited as a formative influence on the emo and pop-punk revival generations that followed.
