Sum 41

Sum 41 are a Canadian rock band formed in Ajax, Ontario, in 1996. Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Deryck Whibley, the group built its sound on a mix of pop-punk hooks, skate-punk energy and metal-influenced riffs, standing alongside bands like Blink-182 and Green Day as one of the defining acts of the early-2000s punk revival.

The band broke through with their 2001 album «All Killer No Filler», powered by the singles «Fat Lip» and «In Too Deep», which brought a rowdier, more aggressive edge to mainstream pop-punk radio. Follow-up records «Does This Look Infected?» and «Chuck» pushed the band toward heavier, thrash-influenced territory while keeping their knack for big choruses, with songs like «Still Waiting» and «The Hell Song» becoming genre staples.

Over two decades the lineup shifted around Whibley, with guitarists Dave Baksh and Tom Thacker, bassist Jason McCaslin and drummer Frank Zummo becoming key members in later years. Sum 41 remained a touring and recording fixture of the pop-punk and alt-rock scene, balancing radio-friendly hits with heavier deep cuts across their catalog.
