Stone Sour

Stone Sour is an American rock band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1992 by vocalist Corey Taylor and guitarist Joel Ekman before going on hiatus while Taylor and guitarist Jim Root pursued Slipknot. The band reconvened in 2000 with a lineup built around Taylor and Root, releasing a self-titled debut in 2002 that introduced a more melodic, radio-friendly alternative metal sound than their masked counterpart.

Stone Sour built its reputation on tracks that blend hard rock aggression with anthemic choruses and introspective balladry, from the driving «Bother» and «Say You’ll Haunt Me» to the acoustic-leaning «Through Glass», one of their biggest commercial hits. Albums like Come What(ever) May and Audio Secrecy further cemented their post-grunge and alternative metal identity, earning multiple Grammy nominations for Best Metal Performance.

Over two decades, Stone Sour has served as both a creative outlet for Corey Taylor outside Slipknot and a respected act in its own right, known for its dynamic range between heavy riffing and emotionally direct songwriting. The band has sold millions of albums worldwide and remains a fixture of modern rock radio.
