Spiritbox

Spiritbox is a Canadian metal band formed in Victoria, British Columbia, built around the husband-and-wife duo of guitarist Mike Stringer and vocalist Courtney LaPlante. Both previously played in the metalcore band Iwrestledabearonce before striking out on their own to pursue a heavier, more atmospheric sound that blends crushing djent-style riffs with soaring melodic hooks and electronic textures. LaPlante's ability to move seamlessly between guttural screams and clean, ethereal singing has become one of the band's defining traits.

The group built its early buzz through standalone singles before releasing its breakthrough debut album, Eternal Blue, in 2021, which drew widespread acclaim in the metal press and helped the band cross over to mainstream rock audiences. Songs such as «Holy Roller» and «Circle with Me» showcased their knack for combining brutal heaviness with radio-friendly choruses.

Since then Spiritbox has continued to release singles and EPs that push their sound further into progressive and alternative territory, cementing their place as one of the most prominent new-generation metal acts to emerge in the 2020s, known for their intense live shows and LaPlante's deeply personal, introspective lyrics.
