About the artist

Slipknot are an American metal band formed in Des Moines, Iowa, in 1995, famed for their nine-member lineup performing in matching jumpsuits and individually designed masks, each member identified by a number rather than a name. Emerging alongside the nu-metal wave of the late 1990s, the band distinguished itself through an extreme, percussion-heavy sound built around dual drummers and additional percussionists, chaotic live shows, and a visual identity that became as central to their reputation as the music itself.

Their self-titled 1999 debut, featuring «Wait and Bleed» and «Spit It Out», established them as one of the most intense acts of the era, and it was followed by the more experimental Iowa in 2001. Founding bassist Paul Gray and drummer Joey Jordison, both key figures in the band's early sound and songwriting, remained core members through several of the group's most acclaimed records, including Vol. 3: The Subliminal Verses and All Hope Is Gone, before later lineup changes reshaped the band. Vocalist Corey Taylor and guitarist Jim Root have also been prominent in the parallel band Stone Sour.

Across albums like .5: The Gray Chapter, We Are Not Your Kind, and The End, So Far, Slipknot have continued blending groove metal aggression with industrial and experimental textures, cementing their status as one of the most influential and commercially successful heavy metal acts of their generation.
