Sleeping At Last

Sleeping at Last is the musical project of American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ryan O'Neal. What began in Wheaton, Illinois as a three-piece rock band with his brother Chad O'Neal on drums and Dan Perdue on bass evolved, after a major-label detour with Interscope Records, into O'Neal's solo vehicle. The band's early attention came from Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, who helped connect them to a label deal that produced the album «Ghosts».

After returning to independent releases with «Keep No Score» and «Storyboards», O'Neal shifted his focus away from traditional full-length albums toward intimate, conceptually driven singles and EPs. His music is defined by lush orchestration, delicate piano and strings, and deeply introspective lyrics that explore identity, mortality, and human connection, often organized around thematic series like songs named for planets or the Enneagram.

Sleeping at Last's songs, including «Saturn», «Turning Page», and «Neptune», have become staples of film and television soundtracks, prized for their cinematic, emotionally resonant quality. The project's evolution from a conventional indie-rock band into a singular, atmospheric songwriting outlet marks one of the more distinctive career arcs in contemporary alternative music.
