Skillet

Skillet is an American rock band from Memphis, Tennessee, formed in 1996 and led throughout its history by singer and bassist John Cooper. The band occupies a distinctive position straddling both mainstream hard rock and the Christian music scene, building a sound defined by heavy guitars, electronic textures and orchestral flourishes layered over anthemic melodies. John's wife Korey Cooper joined on rhythm guitar and keyboards in 2000, and the band's move to a major label in the early 2000s helped push their sound toward a bigger, more radio-ready production.

Their commercial breakthrough came with the album Comatose, which introduced Skillet to a wider rock audience, but it was the addition of drummer and co-vocalist Jen Ledger that helped propel their following album Awake to the upper reaches of the Billboard 200. That record produced enduring rock-radio staples like «Monster», «Hero» and «Awake and Alive», tracks that showcase the band's signature blend of aggressive riffs, soaring choruses and dramatic dynamic shifts between quiet verses and explosive hooks.

Skillet continued its mainstream rise with Unleashed, whose single «Feel Invincible» reached a broad audience through its use as WWE entrance and promotional music. Members Jen Ledger and John Cooper have also pursued side projects, LEDGER and Fight the Fury respectively, while the band's core lineup has kept releasing new material, including their 2024 album Revolution.
