Skid Row

Skid Row is an American hard rock band formed in New Jersey in 1986 by bassist Rachel Bolan and guitarist Dave Sabo, who met while Sabo was working at a guitar store. The pair began writing and rehearsing together, gradually assembling a full lineup and building a following through New Jersey club shows before landing a record deal. Their self-titled debut album, released in 1989, became a huge commercial success, powered by hits like «18 and Life» and «I Remember You», and it established the band as one of the leading acts of the late-1980s hard rock and glam metal wave.

Original frontman Sebastian Bach gave the band's early material its powerful, wide-ranging vocal delivery, while Bolan and Sabo's songwriting balanced melodic hard rock anthems with harder-edged, more aggressive material. This range is evident on tracks spanning from the anthemic «Youth Gone Wild» to the heavier «Slave to the Grind», the title track of their acclaimed second album, which became one of the first hard rock records to debut at number one on the Billboard 200.

After lineup changes in the mid-1990s and beyond, the band continued releasing music with different singers, eventually settling into a lineup fronted by Erik Grönwall. Skid Row remains active as a touring act, with founding members Bolan and Sabo still anchoring the group's sound decades after its formation.
