Seether

Seether is a rock band formed in Pretoria, South Africa in 1999, originally performing as Saron Gas before relocating to the United States and renaming themselves Seether in 2002 to avoid confusion with the nerve agent sarin. The band is fronted by South African singer, guitarist and primary songwriter Shaun Morgan, with bassist Dale Stewart a longtime core member.

Seether's sound sits at the intersection of post-grunge and alternative metal, marked by heavy, downtuned guitars paired with melodic, often confessional vocal hooks. They broke through internationally with «Fine Again» in 2002, and cemented mainstream success in 2004 with «Broken», a duet with Amy Lee of Evanescence that reached the top twenty of the Billboard Hot 100.

Over a long career the band has built a catalog of hits including «Remedy», «Fake It», «Gasoline» and «Rise Above This», alongside a cover of Wham!'s «Careless Whisper» that became a staple of their live sets. Their music often explores themes of grief and personal struggle, notably following the death of Shaun Morgan's brother, and they were recognized with major honors at the MTV Africa Music Awards in 2008.
