Say Anything

Say Anything is an American rock band formed in Los Angeles in the early 2000s around singer-songwriter Max Bemis, who has remained the group's only constant member. The band emerged from the mid-2000s pop-punk and emo scene but quickly distinguished itself with Bemis's confessional, rapid-fire, often confrontational lyrics and a willingness to mix genres within a single record.

Their breakthrough came with the ambitious double album «...Is a Real Boy», released in 2004, which mixed pop-punk energy with theatrical, self-lacerating songwriting and became a touchstone for fans of the genre. Songs such as «Alive with the Glory of Love» and «Admit It!!!» showcased the band's mix of anthemic hooks and biting social commentary, while later records saw Bemis experiment with heavier rock textures and more polished pop songwriting.

Over a run of albums released through the 2000s and 2010s, Say Anything built a reputation as one of the more literate and unpredictable bands to come out of the emo-adjacent underground, with Bemis's songwriting often touching on mental health, relationships and the music industry itself. The band's lineup shifted considerably over the years around Bemis's songwriting core.
