About the artist
Robbie Williams is an English singer-songwriter born in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, who first found fame as a member of the boy band Take That in the early 1990s before leaving in 1995 to launch a solo career. His 1997 debut album Life Thru a Lens turned him into a solo star once the ballad «Angels» became a defining hit of British pop, and he followed it with I've Been Expecting You, which produced «Millennium», «Strong» and «She's the One».
Through the late 1990s and 2000s Williams built a run of UK chart-topping albums blending pop, rock, electronic and dance influences with a flamboyant, wisecracking stage persona. Sing When You're Winning gave him «Rock DJ» and «Supreme», while Escapology delivered «Feel» and «Come Undone», cementing him as one of Britain's most commercially successful solo artists of his era.
He also explored swing and big-band standards on Swing When You're Winning, showing a versatility beyond mainstream pop, and later albums like Intensive Care and Reality Killed the Video Star kept him a fixture of British popular music. Songs such as «Candy» and «Party Like a Russian» show his continued presence in the charts well into the 2010s.
