Rise Against

Rise Against is an American punk rock band from Chicago, Illinois, formed in 1999, known for fusing melodic hardcore energy with anthemic, socially conscious songwriting. Fronted by Tim McIlrath alongside guitarist Zach Blair, bassist Joe Principe and drummer Brandon Barnes, the band emerged from Chicago's hardcore and straight edge scenes before evolving into one of the more commercially successful punk acts of the 2000s, bridging underground roots with mainstream rock radio.

The band built its reputation on politically charged lyrics addressing war, animal rights, environmentalism and social justice, paired with soaring choruses and McIlrath's distinctive raspy-yet-melodic vocals. Albums like «The Sufferer & the Witness» and «Appeal to Reason» produced breakout singles such as «Prayer of the Refugee», «Savior» and «Hero of War», tracks that carried the band from punk clubs into arenas while retaining their outspoken advocacy for causes like Amnesty International and animal rights.
