Puscifer

Puscifer is the musical project of Maynard James Keenan, best known as the frontman of Tool and A Perfect Circle, conceived as a freer, more playful outlet than his other bands. Originally born under the name Umlaut, the project evolved into Puscifer and became a space for Keenan to explore darker humor, theatrical performance, and genre-hopping experimentation far removed from Tool's progressive metal or A Perfect Circle's alt-rock. Since the 2020 album Existential Reckoning, Puscifer's core lineup has been formalized as Keenan alongside guitarist and producer Mat Mitchell and vocalist Carina Round.

Musically, Puscifer roams across electronic, rock, trip-hop, and even country-tinged textures, often wrapped in satirical or absurdist visuals and stage personas. Tracks like «The Humbling River» and «Conditions of My Parole» showcase the project's more melodic, emotionally direct side, while other material leans into industrial grit and dark comedy. The band's catalog includes albums such as V is for Vagina, Conditions of My Parole, and Existential Reckoning.

Puscifer has also built a reputation for elaborate, theatrical live shows and video content, treating the project as much as a multimedia art piece as a band, reflecting Keenan's description of it as a playground for the different creative voices he doesn't channel through his other work.
