Portugal. The Man

Portugal. The Man is an American rock band formed in 2004 by John Gourley and Zach Carothers, who met in high school in Wasilla, Alaska, before relocating the group to Portland, Oregon. Over the years the lineup has expanded to include members such as Kyle O'Quin, Jason Sechrist, Eric Howk and Zoe Manville, alongside Gourley's lead vocals and Carothers's bass.

The band built a prolific, genre-restless catalog across labels including Fearless Records, their own imprint Approaching AIRballoons, and eventually Atlantic Records, blending psychedelic rock, indie pop and funk influences across albums like Evil Friends and In the Mountain in the Cloud.

Their 2017 album Woodstock became their commercial breakthrough, propelled by the single «Feel It Still», which reached the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Grammy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance — the band's biggest mainstream success after over a decade of steady, prolific output. Known for their psychedelic visuals and constantly evolving sound, Portugal. The Man remain one of the more idiosyncratic acts to cross over from indie rock into pop radio.
