Phoebe Bridgers

Phoebe Bridgers, born August 17, 1994, is an American singer-songwriter from Los Angeles who has become one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary indie folk and rock. She began writing songs as a child, honed her craft at open mics, and busked at farmers markets before releasing her debut EP Killer at age 20, which led to touring alongside artists like Julien Baker and Violent Femmes.

Her full-length debut, Stranger in the Alps (2017), established her hushed, confessional songwriting style, marked by intimate vocals, spare arrangements and dark humor woven through emotionally raw lyrics. Her follow-up album Punisher (2020) cemented her as a leading figure in indie music, earning widespread critical acclaim and expanding her sound with fuller, more atmospheric production on tracks like «Kyoto» and «I Know the End».

Beyond her solo work, Bridgers is a prolific collaborator: she co-founded boygenius with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, and formed Better Oblivion Community Center with Conor Oberst, who has also contributed guest vocals to her solo material. She has cited songwriters like Elliott Smith and Leonard Cohen as key influences, and her music sits at the intersection of folk, indie rock and quietly experimental pop.
