Phil Collins

Phil Collins is an English singer, songwriter, drummer and producer whose career spans decades as both a rock band frontman and one of the most successful solo artists of the 1980s. He rose to prominence as the drummer for Genesis before becoming the band's lead vocalist following Peter Gabriel's departure, steering the group toward a more radio-friendly, pop-oriented sound while retaining its progressive roots.

As a solo artist, Collins became a defining voice of 1980s pop and soft rock, scoring numerous UK and US number-one hits between 1983 and 1990 and compiling more US top 40 entries during the decade than any other artist. His unmistakable gated-reverb drum sound and emotionally direct songwriting made tracks like «In the Air Tonight», «Another Day in Paradise» and «Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)» era-defining hits.

Beyond his own catalog, Collins found further success writing and performing music for film, most notably «You'll Be in My Heart» for Disney's Tarzan.
