Passion Pit

Passion Pit is an American indietronica project centered on songwriter and producer Michael Angelakos, formed in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The project began as a home-recorded gift for his then-girlfriend, resulting in the Chunk of Change EP, which quickly drew attention and led to a full touring band and a deal with Frenchkiss and later Columbia Records.

The band's 2009 debut album Manners established their signature sound: shimmering, maximalist synth-pop built around Angelakos's distinctive falsetto, dense layers of electronic production, and an emotionally raw undercurrent often at odds with the music's bright surface. Follow-up albums Gossamer (2012) and Kindred (2015) continued this trajectory, charting on the Billboard 200 and yielding singles like «Take a Walk» and «Carried Away» that became staples of the early-2010s indie and alternative radio landscape.

Songs such as «Sleepyhead», «Little Secrets» and «Constant Conversations» showcase the group's range, from euphoric, hook-driven electro-pop to more melancholic, introspective material, with Angelakos having been candid about mental health struggles informing his songwriting. After parting ways with Columbia, Passion Pit released their fourth album, Tremendous Sea of Love, independently in 2017.
