Papa Roach

Papa Roach are an American rock band from Vacaville, California, formed in 1993 by vocalist Jacoby Shaddix, guitarist Jerry Horton, and bassist Tobin Esperance. After self-releasing early EPs and a debut album, they broke through nationally with «Infest» (2000), whose lead single «Last Resort» became a defining nu-metal anthem thanks to its raw depiction of despair and its aggressive rap-rock delivery.

Over two decades, the band evolved from their nu-metal roots into a broader alternative and post-grunge sound, incorporating melodic hooks and arena-rock production on albums like «Infest», «Getting Away with Murder», and later releases, while keeping Shaddix's intense vocal shifts between rap verses and melodic choruses as a signature trait. Songs such as «Scars» and «Between Angels and Insects» further cemented their place in the early-2000s rock landscape, and the band has continued releasing new material and touring steadily since.

Papa Roach remain one of the more durable acts to emerge from the nu-metal era, known for a consistent core lineup and a willingness to adapt their sound across changing rock trends while retaining the emotional directness that made «Last Resort» a generational hit.
