Paige O'Hara

Paige O’Hara, born Donna Paige Helmintoller, is an American actress, singer, voice actress, and painter best known for originating the singing voice and character animation reference of Belle in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (1991). Before her film career, she was an established Broadway performer, making her stage debut in 1983 as Ellie May Chipley in the musical Showboat.

Her performance as Belle became one of the most celebrated in the Disney Renaissance era, with songs like «Belle», «Belle (Reprise)», «Something There», and «Home» showcasing her legitimate musical-theatre soprano and her ability to convey warmth, intelligence, and longing through song. Her vocal work helped define Belle as a more independent, bookish Disney heroine, distinct from earlier princess archetypes.
