ONE OK ROCK

ONE OK ROCK is a Japanese rock band whose current lineup features Takahiro Moriuchi on vocals, Toru Yamashita on lead guitar, Ryota Kohama on bass and Tomoya Kanki on drums. Formed by Toru in high school in the mid-2000s, the band takes its name from «one o'clock», a nod to the affordable rehearsal slot they used to book, later respelled as ONE OK ROCK to reflect how the Japanese language does not distinguish between the sounds R and L. Musically, the band blends punk-rock energy with hard rock and pop-rock melodicism, delivering anthemic choruses over driving guitars.

Over the years the band steadily built a domestic following before pushing into international markets, with Taka increasingly writing and performing in English as the group targeted global audiences. This shift helped them sign with labels associated with the Western rock scene, including Fueled By Ramen, and opened doors to touring and recording outside Japan.

ONE OK ROCK has collaborated and shared stages with acts such as Of Mice & Men, Starset, Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low, Avril Lavigne and 5 Seconds of Summer, reflecting their crossover appeal in the Western rock and pop-punk scenes. Songs like «We Are», «Heartache» and «Stand Out Fit In» showcase both their Japanese-language roots and their English-language international output, illustrating a band that has consistently worked to bridge two markets without abandoning its core sound.
