About the artist
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds is the solo project of English songwriter and guitarist Noel Gallagher, launched after his departure from Oasis, the band he led to global fame throughout the 1990s and 2000s. The project let Gallagher step out from behind Oasis's larger-than-life persona and explore a more personal, wide-ranging sound touching on classic rock, psychedelia and electronic textures, while keeping the melodic songwriting instincts that made him one of Britpop's most recognizable voices.
The project's self-titled debut arrived in 2011 and topped the UK charts, followed by Chasing Yesterday in 2015 and Who Built the Moon? in 2017, the latter marking a notable shift toward denser, more experimental production. Council Skies followed in 2023, continuing the introspective turn of his later work. Songs such as «If I Had a Gun...», «Holy Mountain», «The Dying of the Light» and «She Taught Me How To Fly» highlight the range of the project, from anthemic rock to more atmospheric, textured songwriting.
Gallagher's post-Oasis output cemented his standing as one of the UK's most consistent rock songwriters of his generation, bridging the gap between his Britpop legacy and a more mature, exploratory phase of his career. His long-running rift with brother and former Oasis bandmate Liam eventually ended, leading to Oasis's reformation, but the High Flying Birds catalog stands as a distinct body of work in its own right.
