Motörhead

Motörhead were an English rock band formed in London in 1975 by vocalist and bassist Ian «Lemmy» Kilmister after his departure from Hawkwind. Often misclassified as pure heavy metal, the band actually fused punk energy, rock and roll drive and metal aggression into a raw, high-speed sound that made them foundational to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal even as they stood apart from it. Their most celebrated lineup paired Lemmy with guitarist «Fast» Eddie Clarke and drummer Phil «Philthy Animal» Taylor.

The band's landmark 1980 album «Ace of Spades», and its title track in particular, became a defining anthem of loud, fast, uncompromising rock music, cementing Lemmy's growling vocal delivery and relentless bass tone as instantly recognizable trademarks. Despite numerous lineup changes over four decades, Motörhead maintained a consistent, ferocious live reputation and influenced thrash metal, punk and hard rock musicians alike.

Lemmy Kilmister remained the band's sole constant member until his death in December 2015, shortly after which Motörhead disbanded. Their legacy endures as one of rock's loudest and most uncompromising bands, celebrated for a work ethic built on relentless touring and an unmistakable sound.
