Mother Mother

Mother Mother is a Canadian indie rock band originally from Quadra Island, British Columbia, now based in Vancouver. The group is led by siblings Ryan Guldemond and Molly Guldemond, alongside Jasmin Parkin, Ali Siadat and Mike Young, and is known for its layered vocal harmonies, quirky arrangements and offbeat, theatrical songwriting. They independently released a self-titled debut album in 2005 under the name Mother, later reissued as «Touch Up» after the band renamed itself Mother Mother and signed to Last Gang Records.

The band built its reputation through a string of albums including «O My Heart» (2008), «Eureka» (2011), «The Sticks» (2012), «Very Good Bad Thing» (2014), «No Culture» (2017) and «Dance and Cry» (2018), developing a distinctive sound built around interlocking male-female vocals, unconventional song structures and an energetic, slightly unhinged edge that sets them apart within the indie rock landscape.

While the band built a dedicated following over more than a decade, songs like «Hayloft» and «Body» found a dramatic second life around 2020, when they went viral on TikTok and introduced Mother Mother to a much younger, global audience — sparking renewed streaming success for earlier tracks alongside their ongoing new releases.
