Mayday Parade

Mayday Parade is an American rock band formed in Tallahassee, Florida, emerging from the merger of members from local bands Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment. The group built its early following independently, self-releasing the EP «Tales Told by Dead Friends» in 2006, which sold tens of thousands of copies without label backing and helped establish them within the mid-2000s pop-punk and emo scene alongside acts like The Academy Is… and Cute Is What We Aim For.

After signing to Fearless Records, the band released its debut full-length, «A Lesson in Romantics», in 2007, an album that became a defining record of the era's emo-pop sound, anchored by emotionally direct lyrics and melodic, guitar-driven arrangements, with songs like «Jamie All Over» and «Miserable at Best» becoming fan favorites. The band later also signed with Atlantic Records and released «Anywhere but Here» in 2009.

Mayday Parade continued releasing music through the 2010s, including their self-titled album (2011), «Monsters in the Closet» (2013), «Black Lines» (2015), and «Sunnyland» (2018), showing a willingness to evolve their sound while retaining the emotionally charged songwriting that built their fanbase. Known for tracks such as «Terrible Things» and «Three Cheers for Five Years», the band remains a touring staple within the pop-punk and emo revival circuit.
