Manfred Mann's Earth Band

Manfred Mann's Earth Band is a British rock band founded by South African-born keyboardist Manfred Mann following the dissolution of his earlier 1960s pop group, Manfred Mann. Formed in the early 1970s, the Earth Band moved into progressive and hard rock territory, distinguished by heavy use of synthesizers alongside guitar-driven arrangements, a relatively unusual combination for the era.

The band became internationally famous for its dramatic, synthesizer-heavy cover version of Bruce Springsteen's «Blinded by the Light», which became a major hit and remains their best-known recording. Beyond that single, the band built a reputation on adapting and reinterpreting songs by other songwriters, including Bob Dylan and Springsteen, filtering them through Mann's distinctive keyboard textures and the band's progressive rock arrangements, alongside original material.
