Mac DeMarco

Mac DeMarco, born MacBriare Samuel Lanyon DeMarco (originally Vernor Winfield MacBriare Smith IV), is a Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer known for pioneering a laid-back, warped guitar-pop sound often dubbed «jizz jazz» or slacker rock. Before adopting the Mac DeMarco name, he recorded as Makeout Videotape, developing the woozy, chorus-drenched guitar tone that would define his later work.

His breakout releases, including 2012's «2» and 2014's Salad Days, paired detuned, warbling guitars with breezy melodies and a wry, laconic vocal delivery, earning him a devoted cult following built as much on his idiosyncratic songwriting as on his eccentric, prankish live persona.
