Lit

Lit is an American rock band formed in 1995 in Southern California, built around the Popoff brothers — A. Jay Popoff on lead vocals and Jeremy Popoff on guitar — alongside bassist Kevin Baldes. Emerging from the Orange County scene, the band fused pop-punk energy with radio-friendly hard rock hooks.

The group's breakthrough came in 1999 with «My Own Worst Enemy», a hit built on a sing-along chorus and self-deprecating lyrics about a hungover night gone wrong, which became one of the defining rock singles of the era. Other songs from the same period, including «Miserable» and «Zip-Lock», kept Lit on modern-rock radio through the late nineties and early 2000s.

Lit's sound sits at the crossover point between alternative rock and pop, favoring big choruses and tight, hook-driven songwriting over experimentation. While later releases didn't match the commercial peak of their late-90s run, the band has continued to tour and record, remaining a recognizable name from the post-grunge, pop-rock wave of that era.
