Lamb of God

Lamb of God is an American groove metal band formed in Richmond, Virginia. The group began life under the name Burn the Priest before adopting its current name to avoid being mistaken for a satanic act. Since then it has become one of the defining voices of modern American metal, known for pummeling riffs, complex rhythmic breakdowns, and vocalist Randy Blythe's raw, socially charged delivery.

The band's sound blends thrash metal aggression with groove metal's syncopated grooves, and its lyrics frequently tackle politics, war, and personal struggle. Songs like «Laid to Rest», «Redneck», and «Walk with Me in Hell» helped cement the band's reputation on major festival stages and metal radio alike, while later material such as «512» reflected on turbulent chapters in the band's history.

Over two decades the lineup has remained largely stable around guitarists Mark Morton and Willie Adler, bassist John Campbell, and Blythe on vocals, with drummer Art Cruz joining in 2019. Lamb of God is widely credited alongside bands like Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall with shaping the New Wave of American Heavy Metal.
