La Dispute

La Dispute is an American post-hardcore band formed in 2004 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The group is known for its literary, densely worded lyrics and Jordan Dreyer's distinctive half-spoken, half-screamed vocal delivery, which sets them apart from more conventionally melodic post-hardcore and screamo acts. Musically, the band blends dissonant, angular guitar work with dynamic shifts between quiet, contemplative passages and explosive, cathartic climaxes.

The band built its reputation through a string of narrative-driven concept releases. Their debut studio album, Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair, established their storytelling approach, while Wildlife further explored themes of grief, mortality, and small-town life through a mix of first-person vignettes. Rooms of the House turned toward the disintegration of a relationship and the meaning embedded in domestic spaces, and Panorama continued their introspective, emotionally raw songwriting.
