Korpiklaani

Korpiklaani is a Finnish folk metal band formed in Lapland in 1993, initially performing acoustic material under the name Shaman (Shamaani Duo) before adopting an electric, full-band sound and the Korpiklaani name — Finnish for «wilderness clan». Frontman Jonne Järvelä has remained the band's constant creative core throughout its history, steering its blend of heavy metal riffing with traditional Finnish folk instrumentation.

The band built its identity around fiddle and accordion-driven melodies layered over aggressive guitar work, with lyrics often celebrating nature, drinking, and rural Finnish life — themes captured in well-known songs like «Vodka» and «Beer Beer». Their playful, party-oriented take on folk metal, exemplified by their cover of the Finnish folk classic «Ievan Polkka», helped distinguish them from darker, more mythology-focused peers in the genre and won them a dedicated international festival following.

Signed for much of their career to Nuclear Blast/Napalm-style metal labels, Korpiklaani have released a long string of studio albums and toured extensively across Europe and North America, cementing their reputation as one of the most recognizable and enduring acts in the folk metal scene alongside bands like Finntroll and Ensiferum.
