Kings of Leon

Kings of Leon are an American rock band formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 1999, made up of brothers Caleb, Nathan and Jared Followill along with their cousin Matthew Followill. Raised in a itinerant upbringing across the American South, the band's name honors their grandfather Leon. They emerged in the early 2000s with a raw, Southern-inflected rock sound before evolving over successive albums into a more expansive, arena-ready style.

Their breakthrough came internationally before fully catching on in the United States, with albums like «Because of the Times» and especially «Only by the Night» propelling them to global stardom. The latter produced two of their signature songs, «Sex on Fire» and «Use Somebody», both massive hits that won Grammy Awards and cemented the band as one of the defining rock acts of the late 2000s.

Across their catalog, Kings of Leon have moved from gritty garage rock toward polished, atmospheric arena rock, incorporating synths and more melodic songwriting on later records like «WALLS». Caleb Followill's raspy vocal delivery remains a consistent signature throughout their evolution, and the band continues to be recognized as one of the most commercially successful rock groups of their generation.
