King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard

King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard are a prolific Australian psychedelic rock band from Melbourne, formed in 2010 and led by multi-instrumentalist Stu Mackenzie. Known for their restless genre-hopping, the group has moved fluidly between garage rock, microtonal Turkish-influenced psych, thrash metal, jazz fusion, and synth-driven electronic music, often dedicating entire albums to a single stylistic experiment.

The band's output is defined by extraordinary productivity, releasing multiple albums in a single year on several occasions, including a widely discussed run of five albums in 2017. Records such as Nonagon Infinity, Flying Microtonal Banana, and Infest the Rats' Nest showcase their range, from hypnotic looped song cycles to metal-tinged environmental concept albums, while tracks like «Robot Stop» and «Rattlesnake» remain fan favorites for their driving, hypnotic grooves.

Since the departure of founding drummer and label head Eric Moore around 2020, the band has increasingly self-released music, fostering a famously devoted fanbase that trades bootleg recordings and celebrates the group's improvisational live shows.
