Kent were a Swedish alternative rock band from Eskilstuna, formed in 1990 and among the most commercially successful and influential rock acts in Sweden's history. The band's classic lineup came together around vocalist and primary songwriter Joakim Berg, alongside Martin Sköld, Markus Mustonen, Sami Sirviö and Thomas Bergqvist. After forming in the early 1990s, they released their self-titled debut album in 1995 and went on to release a string of albums that dominated Swedish charts for over two decades.

Musically, Kent moved from grunge-influenced guitar rock in their early years toward a more atmospheric, synth-inflected sound in their later work, often marked by melancholic, introspective lyrics sung in Swedish, which set them apart from many Swedish acts that sang in English to reach international audiences. This commitment to their native language, paired with widescreen, emotionally direct songwriting, helped them build an intensely loyal following throughout Scandinavia even as it limited their international breakthrough.

Over their career Kent released numerous acclaimed albums and became known for their ambitious live shows and album art. The band announced their split in 2016, embarking on a farewell tour titled Avskedsturnén, culminating in a final concert at Tele2 Arena in Stockholm on December 17, 2016. Their catalog remains a cornerstone of Swedish rock, and songs like their singles continue to be celebrated as generational touchstones in Sweden.
