Kazik Staszewski

Kazik Staszewski is a Polish singer, songwriter, and saxophonist, best known as the co-founder and frontman of Kult, one of the most influential and enduring bands in Polish rock. Formed in Warsaw in the 1980s, Kult became a defining voice of Polish alternative and punk-inflected rock, with Staszewski's raw, sardonic vocal delivery and sharply political, often satirical lyrics addressing corruption, hypocrisy, and social absurdity in Poland.

Beyond Kult, Staszewski has pursued a prolific and stylistically restless solo and side-project career, recording under names like Kazik Na Żywo (KNZ) and El Dupa, exploring hip-hop, reggae, and other genres far from his rock roots. This eclecticism has made him one of the more unpredictable and respected figures in Polish popular music, unafraid to shift genres while keeping his confrontational, socially engaged songwriting intact.

His songs, whether with Kult or as Kazik, are known for biting social commentary, dark humor, and a willingness to tackle taboo or controversial subjects directly.
