KALEO

KALEO are an Icelandic alternative rock band formed in Mosfellsbær in 2012. The group originally featured Jökull Júlíusson on vocals and guitar, Rubin Pollock on guitar, Daníel Ægir Kristjánsson on bass, and Davíð Antonsson on drums. Their sound blends blues rock and Americana with a moody, atmospheric Nordic sensibility, drawing on classic rock and folk influences while giving Júlíusson's raspy, soulful voice room to carry the arrangements.

The band first gained attention in Iceland with «Vor í Vaglaskógi», later featured on the soundtrack to the television series Trapped, before breaking through internationally with songs from their debut album A/B, including «Way Down We Go» and «All the Pretty Girls». Their profile grew further when «No Good» was used prominently in the HBO series Vinyl, helping introduce the band to a wider American audience alongside extensive touring and festival appearances.

After years of building on the road, Júlíusson led the next chapter of KALEO with the album Surface Sounds, released in April 2021 following a pandemic-related delay from its original 2020 target. Across their catalogue, songs like «Broken Bones» and «Save Yourself» showcase the band's ability to move between stripped-down, acoustic-tinged balladry and heavier, blues-driven rock, a range that has become central to their identity.
