Justin Vernon

Justin Vernon is an American singer, songwriter, and producer best known as the founder and frontman of Bon Iver. He first gained wide attention with the 2007 album «For Emma, Forever Ago», recorded largely in isolation in a Wisconsin cabin, whose hushed falsetto vocals and stripped-down folk arrangements became a touchstone for the indie-folk revival of the late 2000s. Bon Iver went on to release increasingly adventurous records, blending folk roots with electronic textures, saxophone, and processed vocals.

Vernon's musical reach extends well beyond Bon Iver. He is a member of the experimental group Volcano Choir, was part of the earlier project DeYarmond Edison, and has collaborated with a wide range of artists across genres, including a notable partnership with Kanye West on several albums. Alongside Aaron Dessner of The National, he co-founded the PEOPLE project, an artist collective and festival that fostered numerous cross-genre collaborations, among them the Big Red Machine project with Dessner.

His sound is characterized by intimate, textured production, layered and often heavily processed vocals, and a willingness to move fluidly between folk, rock, and electronic idioms. Vernon's work has had a lasting influence on contemporary indie music, and Bon Iver's catalog remains a reference point for artists blending organic songwriting with studio experimentation.
