About the artist
Juan Karlos is a Filipino rock band from Manila fronted by singer, rhythm guitarist and principal songwriter Juan Karlos Labajo, alongside lead guitarist Jeriko Aguilar and bassist Louise Bayas. The band grew out of Labajo's earlier exposure as a young singing talent and quickly became one of the most recognizable acts in contemporary Original Pilipino Music, breaking through with the ballad «Buwan», a song that became a defining hit of the late-2010s OPM revival and turned into a viral phenomenon on social media and karaoke alike.
Musically, the group channels a nostalgic, guitar-driven Pinoy rock sound that consciously echoes the 1990s alternative scene, drawing inspiration from Eraserheads frontman Ely Buendia and from Bamboo, who mentored Labajo during his time on The Voice Kids Philippines. Their catalogue blends heartfelt ballads such as «Ere» and «Tapusin Na Natin To» with heavier, more anthemic material like «Demonyo» and «Shot Puno», giving the band range across both intimate acoustic performances and full-band arena sound.
Signed to MCA Music and Island Records, Juan Karlos has continued to release music following the death of original drummer Gian Hipolito in 2021, cementing its place as a bridge between the golden age of Pinoy rock and a new generation of Filipino listeners.
