Joan Jett and the Blackhearts

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts is the American rock band formed by Joan Jett after the dissolution of The Runaways, built around her Blackheart Records imprint and her longtime creative partnership with producer Kenny Laguna. Formed at the turn of the 1980s, the band became the primary vehicle for Jett's music, blending gritty garage rock, punk attitude, and hook-driven pop songwriting into a sound that was both raw and radio-ready.

The group's breakthrough came with the album «I Love Rock 'n' Roll», whose title track became a massive hit and one of the defining rock anthems of the era. Other well-known recordings such as «I Hate Myself for Loving You» and their cover of «Crimson and Clover» showcased the band's knack for turning both originals and covers into anthemic rock songs with wide crossover appeal. Over the decades the band's lineup has changed repeatedly, with Jett and Laguna remaining the constant creative core.

Across ten studio albums, plus additional records released under Jett's name alone, the Blackhearts helped define a defiant, hard-edged strain of American rock while retaining strong pop instincts. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2015, cementing their place in rock history and Joan Jett's enduring influence as a bandleader and rock pioneer.
