Jim Johnston

Jim Johnston is an American composer and producer best known for creating entrance themes, promo music and background scores for WWE, the professional wrestling promotion, over a career spanning from the mid-1980s into the late 2010s. His work shaped the sonic identity of countless wrestlers, from arena rock anthems to hip-hop and country-flavored themes tailored to each performer’s persona.

Johnston composed music across an enormous range of styles, reflecting the variety of characters WWE presented over three decades — hard rock for wrestlers like Triple H and Chris Jericho, orchestral and dramatic pieces for storyline moments, and genre-crossing themes for factions such as D-Generation X. His themes became inseparable from the wrestlers themselves, often serving as an entrance cue instantly recognizable to arena crowds worldwide.
