Jenny Lewis

Jenny Lewis is an American singer-songwriter and musician born January 8, 1976, best known as the frontwoman and rhythm guitarist of the indie rock band Rilo Kiley, which she formed in the late 1990s with Blake Sennett. Before her music career, Lewis was a successful child actress, appearing in films like Troop Beverly Hills and The Wizard and the television series Brooklyn Bridge, before shifting her focus to songwriting.

With Rilo Kiley, she helped define the sound of 2000s American indie rock, blending sharp, narrative lyrics with a mix of jangly guitar pop and alt-country influences. After the band's run, she launched a solo career marked by albums such as Rabbit Fur Coat, Acid Tongue, The Voyager, and On the Line, moving fluidly between folk, country, rock, and glossy pop production.

Beyond her solo work and Rilo Kiley, Lewis has been an active collaborator, contributing vocals to The Postal Service and forming side projects Jenny & Johnny and Nice As Fuck. Known for witty, confessional songwriting and a distinctive voice, she remains one of the most respected songwriters to emerge from the American indie scene, with songs like «Acid Tongue» and «Just One of the Guys» among her best-known work.
