Jeff Buckley

Jeff Buckley was an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist celebrated for a striking, multi-octave voice and an intensely dramatic, emotionally raw approach to performance. He emerged from New York's avant-garde music scene in the early 1990s, quickly drawing critical acclaim and a devoted cult following that has only grown since his death.

His sole studio album, «Grace» (1994), remains his defining statement, blending rock, folk, blues, and art-song sensibilities into a sound that felt both intimate and operatic. The record featured his now-iconic interpretation of Leonard Cohen's «Hallelujah», alongside original songs such as «Last Goodbye», «Mojo Pin», and «Lover, You Should've Come Over», which showcased his ability to move fluidly between whispered restraint and soaring vocal climaxes.

Buckley drowned in a swimming accident in 1997, just shy of his 31st birthday, while working on what would have been his second album. Posthumous releases, including material later compiled and expanded, cemented his legacy as one of the most influential vocalists of his generation, with songs like «Everybody Here Wants You», «Forget Her», and «Lilac Wine» further illustrating the emotional range that continues to inspire singers and songwriters across rock, indie, and beyond.
