About the artist
JadaL (جدل) is a Jordanian rock band formed in Amman in 2003 by musician and guitarist Mahmoud Radaideh. They are widely regarded as pioneers of Arabic rock, blending Western rock arrangements with Arabic melodies and lyrics, and helped open space for an independent Arabic-language rock scene across the region.
The band first drew wide attention with a rock reinterpretation of the late Abdel Halim Hafez classic «Kol Ma A'oul El Tawba», released under the title «Al Tobah», which introduced their signature approach of fusing nostalgic Arabic songwriting with electric guitars and modern production. Their debut album, «Al Rock Arabi», included the widely loved single «Salma», dedicated to Radaideh's niece, and helped establish JadaL as a distinctive voice among young Arab listeners.
Subsequent releases, including the album «El Makina» with its title track and «Ana Bakhaf Min El Commitment», broadened their fanbase across Jordan and neighboring countries through emotionally resonant lyrics about personal and social themes, sung in Jordanian dialect. Known for energetic live performances and heartfelt songwriting, JadaL remains one of the most successful and enduring independent bands in the Arab music scene.
